  1. Are all staffing agencies the same?
No, they are as diverse as the companies they serve. Differentiation can be found with: required skills, industries served, types of placements (temporary, temp-to-hire, direct placements, searches), and structure.

  2. What makes FirstChoice Staffing different?
You will have a recruiter that has been in the industry since 1996 and has owned this company since 1999. You will have access to an experienced recruiter in a wide variety of placements that include shop labor to plant manager and receptionist to CFO. You are dealing directly with someone that knows the industry VERY well, including best practices and competitors. A decision maker that can get your answers "now." NO disconnect, or miscommunication, between the promises of sales and the delivery by the recruiter as those functions are his responsibility. Finally, PERSISTENCE. We continue your search until the position is filled and, many times, long after most other agencies have given up the search. Why do we do it? We value your trust. We consider each (and EVERY) position vital to you and the success of your company.

  3. What happens if I need people now?
Call the emergency number and we will start finding the candidates you need. We understand that work still needs to be done on Friday at 5:00 p.m. or Saturday at 7:00 a.m. Whether days, evenings or weekends, we can be available to you. Call 248-895-5272.

  4. Why use the services of a staffing company?
Qualified candidates are becoming more scarce and staffing companies can offer tools to extend your search for good people. Your core business is providing a service or manufacturing products and our core business is "people." You find people as needed and we find people EVERY day.

The typical agency gets hundreds, sometimes thousands, of resumes, calls, and referrals a week, EVERY WEEK, 52 weeks a year. Do you?

    Back
  5. Aren't staffing companies too expensive?
Everything has a known price and hidden cost. The typical agency does not charge anything for their services, until they actually PLACE a candidate. In getting that candidate, you do not: pay for advertising (typical name brand posting can be $400.00), review resumes or take calls, network, screen candidates, take applications, personally interview, or verify employment or education, if required. If your company is doing your own hiring, your hidden cost is that you are paying your employee to do all of the those functions; plus their typical daily work and unspoken resentment.

  6. Who uses agencies?
Every industry that needs employees. The smart companies recognize the value of extending their reach in finding qualified candidates, whether you do, or don't, have an HR department. FYI, that means YOUR competitors.
    Back
  7. Types of placements?
Temporary (vacation coverage, special projects, seasonal), Temp-To- Hire (allows time to evaluate the skill sets and cultural "fit" of the candidate before permanently hiring), Contract: long-term assignment, Direct or Permanent Placement (you hire the candidate immediately as an employee of your company.)
    Back
  8. What else does an agency do?
If you hire in any capacity other than direct/permanent, the people assigned (to your facility) are the employees of the staffing agency; that removes your direct costs as they relate to payroll. The agency does payroll (paychecks and direct deposits), delivers it, withholds taxes, pays the employer-related portion of taxes, pays for workman's compensation insurance coverage, pays unemployment taxes, carries liability insurance, interacts with social service agencies, withholds garnishments or "Friend of the Court" payments, and is the employer of record for unemployment claims.
